Boss Becker had shown him the ropes, so by the end of that first year at the Circle RD, Stick thought he knew pretty much all there was to know about sheep ranching. Boss wasn’t big on messing with nature so the ewes would all lamb in the spring like they’re supposed to. After a few weeks when they were weaned, there was tagging and tail docking to take care of and shaving their hind ends. Mostly, the Circle RD sold the sheep for meat, but Boss kept a couple dozen around for wool so there was some shearing work too.
