Thanks for sharing, Tonia. Dad liked liver and onions too (shoe leather and slimy worms in my mother's interpretation) and that took me right back to my table. Now I have "Eat, Eric" echoing in my head.

Aside from liver and onions and rabbit, our common stand-off was with a concoction my aunt called "milk toast." You might remember it as a delightful dish of warmed milk laced with a bit of sugar and a dot of butter that you dipped your toast in. Not at my aunt's house. There it was a grayish dish of warmed milk (at least it was warm when it was set in front of us) with a piece of white bread toast floating on top.By the time that crunchy toast arrived on the table, it had become a slimy Wonder glob, daring to be eaten. Decades later, it still gags me just to think about it.
