“Are you talking about Sebastien Bolivier?”

“I think so. I guess so.” Annie stammered. “Honestly, I’m not sure.”

Finally, the dam broke and words tumbled out of her mouth in a torrent.

“Who is he? Where is he? Is he dead? I met a man at the harbor when I first moved here. My first day here. He gave me a tour of the lightship. He gave me a can of salmon as a souvenir. I remember everything about it. About him. He said his name was Sebastien, but people called him Bass.”
