THE LIGHTSHIP
Part 5
Annie had named the kitten Foggy. He wore a beautiful light grey coat which made him almost invisible when the town’s namesake weather rolled in from the ocean. He became an outdoor cat because Annie figured the house was too small to keep him cooped up, but mostly she hated the idea of cleaning a litter box. Not to mention the smell. Foggy was very independent but didn’t stray far from home, or for long, and a spoon banging on a cat food can was usually enough to bring him running to the door. He did use Annie’s favorite wicker chair as a scratching post despite being told not to, but he was playful and affectionate, and Annie was grateful for the company.
