I was what is known as a late bloomer – a lovely floral euphemism for having a criminally delinquent pituitary gland and hence severely stunted growth during the mid-teen years. Which happens to be when we are in middle and high school. Which happens to be when we are emotionally fragile and most vulnerable to psychological attack from early bloomers. I’m not aware of any studies on the subject, but based on volumes of experiential evidence I can say with certainty that early bloomers are a vicious form of flora prone to psychological attack.
