My Exclusive Interview with God – Doug Bercy for the Swamp Sentinal
God: Great lunch. Thanks for buying.
DB: Of course. Thank the Swamp Sentinel.
God: Just out of curiosity, Doug, did you consider any other names for your paper?
DB: I was wondering if you were going to ask. The founder of the Swamp Sentinel was a man named Bubba Daniels. He was a cotton farmer, slaveholder and a colonel in the confederate army. After the Civil War, he fought reconstruction tooth and nail. He despised the carpetbaggers coming down to try and unionize the south, so he started a publishing business to spew his racist venom. I think the name was just to stick his thumb in the eyes of northerners.
