Can I tell you something?
I love freedom and liberty. I feel very fortunate to have been born and live in a place where those things are a thing, and I’m cognizant of the fact billions of people live under authoritarian rule where doing whatever you want or saying whatever you feel is not an option. I really cannot imagine what that must be like, and I freely admit with a fair amount of guilt I take those privileges for granted.
The two weeks of my youth I spent at a “sports camp” one long, hot summer under barbaric, despotic rule was the only real taste I’ve ever had of what it’s like to not be free and I still shudder at the thought. Also, the food. Frankly, though, all I need to appreciate how precious is liberty are the mute multitudes so desperate for it they are willing to die to escape the boot of government oppression.
